Abstract:
Provided is a sensor element capable of suppressing a deterioration in detection accuracy resulting from use of a gas sensor for an extended period of time. A sensor element 101 comprises a base portion 102 including solid electrolyte layers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 having oxygen ion conductivity, a measured-gas flow through portion 15 formed from one end portion, in a longitudinal direction, of the base portion 102, an inside main pump electrode 22 disposed on an inner surface of the measured-gas flow through portion 15, an outside pump electrode 23 disposed corresponding to the inside main pump electrode 22, and a measuring electrode 44 disposed in a position on the inner surface of the measured-gas flow through portion 15 that is farther from said one end portion than the inside main pump electrode 22, wherein the outside pump electrode 23 detects a measurement target gas in the measured gas disposed in a position farther from the one end portion than one electrode end of the inside main pump electrode 22 that is closer to the one end portion, in the longitudinal direction of the base portion 102, relative to the longitudinal direction of the base portion 102.
