A sensor pad (101) for monitoring user posture. The sensor pad (101) includes a sensor array (201) having first layer electrodes (301) disposed on a first substrate (309a) that faces a second substrate (309b), second layer electrodes (303) disposed on the second substrate (309b) that faces the first substrate (309a), a spacer layer (311) disposed between the first substrate (309a) and the second substrate (309b) and having holes (313) each corresponding to an overlapping region (302) of the first layer electrodes (301) and the second layer electrodes (303), wherein the first layer electrodes (301) are configured to contact the second layer electrodes (303) through at least one of the holes (313) via a corresponding overlapping region when an external force is applied on the sensor pad (101) by a user, a sensing circuit (103) configured to generate an output signal in response to the external force, and a sensor correction circuit (109) configured to prevent the sensing circuit (103) from generating a false positive signal in the output signal. A system (100) for monitoring user posture is also provided. A method for monitoring user posture is also provided.
