Abstract:

Provided are: a separation device having high separation efficiency; and a method for producing a water absorbability-imparted material using the separation device. The separation device (1) is provided with a chopping section (10) and a separation section (20). The chopping section (10) can chop a disposable diaper (an object to be treated) comprising a plastic material (a first material) and a water-absorbable polymer (a second material) adhered onto the plastic material. The separation section (20) is equipped with a drum (22) and a tapping member (24). The separation section (20) can separate the water-absorbable polymer that passes through a pore (22a) from the disposable diaper, which has been chopped in the chopping section (10), by tapping the disposable diaper on a board surface of the tapping member (24) while keeping the disposable diaper in the separation section (20) and while rotating the drum (22).
