Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a membrane that is for forward osmosis, that maintains high porosity while reducing concentration polarization by suitably controlling the distribution of said porosity, that has high water permeability and high self-supporting properties, that can be applied to various draw solutions, and that has high chemical durability. [Solution] A separation membrane that has an inclined structure from the outer surface side toward the inner surface side thereof, said separation membrane being characterized in that when the polymer density distribution in the membrane thickness direction is measured by Raman spectroscopy, the ratio of the thickness of a layer in which the polymer density is dense and the thickness of a layer in which the polymer density is sparse is in a range that satisfies 0.25 ≤ (thickness of sparse layer)/[(thickness of dense layer) + (thickness of sparse layer)] ≤ 0.6.
