Abstract:
Provided are: a separator for alkaline batteries, which is suitable for use in an alkaline battery; and an alkaline battery which uses this separator for alkaline batteries. This separator for alkaline batteries comprises a nonwoven fabric, and chelating fibers, into each of which a functional group that has chelating ability for metal ions is introduced, are contained as at least some of the main fibers that constitute the nonwoven fabric. This alkaline battery comprises at least a positive electrode, a negative electrode, the above-described separator arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and an electrolyte solution.
