Abstract:
Disclosed are a separator of an electrochemical device, which is interposed between a cathode and an anode to prevent a short circuit of either electrode, and an electrochemical device comprising the same, wherein the separator includes through-holes having diameters of 1 to 20 µm in the thickness direction, and each of the through-holes has a surface which is coated with a thermoplastic polymer having a melting point higher than or equal to 70°C and lower than 130°C and is thus sealed. The present invention can prevent rapid ignition of an electrochemical device in advance due to the characteristics described above.
