Abstract:
The present invention is a separator for an electrochemical element, comprising: a microporous substrate; and a porous layer which is formed on one side or both sides of the microporous substrate, and which includes a mixture of inorganic particles and a binder polymer, wherein: in the width direction profile of the cross-sectional configuration of the surface of the porous layer as measured by a white light interference microscope, when the maximum value of the Y-axis is T1, the minimum value is T2, the midpoint between T1
and T2 is T0 = (T1+T2)/2, the number of points equal to or greater than T0 is P1, and the number of points smaller than T0 is P2, 0.8 ≤ P1/P2 ≤ 1.2 is satisfied; when the number of points included in the range between 0.8T1 and T1 is S1, 0 < S1 ≤ 0.4P1 is satisfied; and when the number of points included in the range between 0.8T2 and T2 is S2, 0 < S2 ≤ 0.4P2 is satisfied.
