Abstract:

Provided are a separator for an electrochemical element and a method for manufacturing same. The separator comprises: a porous polymer substrate having a plurality of pores; and a porous coating layer that is formed on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate and which comprises: a mixture of inorganic particles and a particulate binder polymer; and a polyvinylpyrrolidone binder polymer positioned on a part or entirety of surfaces of the particles in the mixture to connect and fix the particles to each other, wherein the polyvinylpyrrolidone binder polymer is used at a content of 2 to 20 parts by weight on the basis of the total content of 100 parts by weight of binder polymers. Therefore, the present invention can provide a separator having a Lami strength equal or similar to that of a conventional separator and low resistance even without surface treatment of the porous polymer substrate.
