Abstract:
A separator for a metal halogen cell which comprises a polyolefin having a viscosity average molecular weight of 350,000 to 2,000,000 and containing a polyolefin having a molecular weight of 1,000,000 or more in a content of 15t % to 80 % based on weight percentage and a hydrophilic inorganic fine powder, the weight ratio of polyolefin/ hydrophilic inorganic fine powder being not less than 0.55 and less than 1, has a fine pore volume of 900 mm?3¿/g or more and a thickness of 0.2 to 1.0 mm. The separator is excellent in heat resistance, stress crack resistance and electrical characteristics.
