Title:
SEPARATOR FOR POWER STORAGE DEVICE AND POWER STORAGE DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/096059
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a separator for a power storage device that can reliably prevent shorts between positive electrode layers and negative electrode layers while maintaining a function for transmitting ions and can effectively control contraction. Also provided is a power storage device using same. The separator for a power storage device is formed from a composite material containing inorganic microparticles and an organic binder and is used in a power storage device having a structure wherein positive electrode layers and negative electrode layers are laminated facing each other with separators therebetween and accommodated along with an electrolyte in an outer packaging. In this separator, (a) the pigment volume concentration (PVC) of the composite material is 55% or greater, and (b) the average particle size of the inorganic microparticles is 0.2 - 3.0 µm and the general particle shape index in the range of 0.50 - 0.85. Alternatively, the pigment volume concentration (PVC) of the composite material is set in the range of 55 - 80%. Further alternatively, the pigment volume concentration (PVC) of the composite material is set in the range of 55 - 65 %.
