Title:
SEPARATOR AND SUPPORTS FOR COILS REPELLENTS INSECTICIDES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/063307
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
It is an object of tie present invention to detach the insect repellent coils on the market also referred to as "Mosquito coils" through a mechanical and automated system. Two members of the device, suitable for being spread apart by means of a suitably shaped hinge once the coils have detached, make it possible to provide a steady support for the coils themselves, while allowing the burnt ashes to be collected. In order to enhance the resiliency on the members that, once upturned, will serve as "supports" and as "ashtrays", suitable small magnets or magnetic band surfaces are secured on the back of said members. These will engage with the metal supports that the coil packages available on the market are provided with.

CLAMS

1 - A device comprising two members adapted to being assembled and disassembled (Figs. 1, 2, 3 e 4) by means of a suitably shaped hinge, such members being:

tub "A" suitable for containing a pair of coils to be detached; extruder "B" suitable for an actual detachment;

as regards the hinge, any other system fulfilling the same function is to be regarded as technically equivalent.

2 - A moderate pressure applied over a time lapse is generated by the rotary motion of extruder "B" about a h - h' axis (Fig. 3) thanks to the unique profile of the extruder itself (Fig. 5) acting on spots of the coil to be extruded, which are distinct but adjacent to each other, thereby determining a careful detachment of the edges of the coil itself with respect to the stationary coil resting on the support conveniently formed in tub "A".

3 - The unique profile of the coil in extruder's plate "B" (Figs. 4 and 5), varying in height within a few millimetres, that is suitably shaped is the main reason for a successful accomplishment of the operation by which the coils are detached according to Claim 2, thus determining a gradual detachment of the edges of the two coils that were pre-notched in the manufacturing plant, with no likelihood of any cracks occurring.

4 - The function of the ashtray support fulfilled by members "A" and "B" is facilitated by the provision of one or more small reinforcement permanent magnets or magnetic band surfaces that will engage with the metal supports which the coil packages available commercially are provided with. The option of securing the said metal supports to the "ashtray plates" by magnets is included in the present invention. Such solution preventing a coil and its support from sliding and then falling when displaced while being used, makes their positioning and use much easier. 5 - A device according to anyone of the preceding claims, which is round shaped or polygonal ly shaped in top plan view, will be produced a size suitable for containing the two concentric coils to be detached, thereby steadily supporting through a suitable profile the coil located on the support and extruding the coil adjacent thereto before placing it below on the seat conveniently formed in tub "A".

6 - The overall device, its members and details, may vary in size as may the direction in which the coils of the device rotate, while still being within the scope of the present invention. Such changes may become necessary in view of size differences, differences in direction and number of coils among the various coils available on the market.

7 - Any material with suitable strength, resiliency or with other unique features may be used for mass producing the device of the present invention.

Description:
DESCRIPTION

SEPARATOR AND SUPPORTS FOR COILS REPELLENTS INSECTICIDES.

The Coiled insecticide or insect repellent of tie "mosquito coif* type essentially used against mosquitoes will be hereafter simply referred to as "coil" for short.

Such coils are mass produced by moulding one small base of smoke- producing repellent having two twin concentric coils notched therein that are to be detached manually by the final user, thereby obtaining two individual coils.

It is an object of the present invention to avoid cracks during the delicate steps of manual detachment of the coils to be used, thus allowing to provide support to the coils themselves when used, while collecting the burnt ashes therefrom.

The device comprises two parts:

The first part referred to as tub "A", as shown by the accompanying drawing (Fig. 1), is suitable for containing a pair of coils to be detached as well as, once these have been detached, both individual coils.

The second part referred to as extruder "B", as shown in the accompanying drawing (Fig. 2), is suitable for accomplishing the actual detachment of the coils to be detached and their physical separation.

The two above parts, held together by the hinge rotating about the h - h' axis (Fig. 3), can be detached thanks to the shape of the hinge itself that makes it possible, thereby being suitable for being used, once upturned, as "Supports" and "Ashtrays".

In this embodiment the two members "A" and "B" are separated by being spread apart to positions forming a 180° angle with each other, which is enough for them to be disengaged from each other. Of course, the same operation in reverse is needed for these two members to be brought together. Any other system fulfilling the same function is to be regarded as being technically equivalent.

In order to enhance the resilience of those ("A" and "B" members) which, once upturned, will serve as "supports" and "ashtrays" on the back of members "A" and "B" themselves, small reinforcement magnets or magnetic band surfaces are suitably secured that will engage with the metal supports that commercially available coil packages are provided with, thus rendering the use thereof easier and allowing two coils, each provided with an "ashtray", located away from each other to be used simultaneously. The operation of the device according to the present invention is straightforward:

Once the pair of coils to be detached has been placed in the appropriate seat formed in tub "A", extruder "B" is fully closed like a cover.

A moderate pressure, applied by rotating extruder "B" about axis h - h' over a period and always on different spots which are adjacent to each other, causes the coil bound to be extruded to be detached from the stationary coil resting on the appropriate support formed in tub "A".

Since the ieigfct of suitably fashioned conically-shaped profile of extruder's plate "B" changes within a few millimetres (Fig. 5) as It is rotated through the last few degrees before tie two plates are brought together, the edges of the two pre-notched coils detach gradually with no chance of a fracture.

The device according to the present invention, that is roundly or polygonally shaped in top plan view, will be mass produced a size suitable for it to contain the two concentric coils to be detached, and to steadily support the coil secured to the support through a suitable profile and extrude the adjoining coil, before this is placed in the seat conveniently formed in tub "A" underneath.

The overall size, the size of its parts and its details may vary, while still being within the scope of the present invention, depending on the different types of coils available on the market, there not being any established standard size, nor any uniformity as for direction or number of turns among the various manufacturers of the coils themselves.

Any suitably resilient and strong material, better if self-extinguishing, can be used for mass production, although never or in utterly exceptional circumstances brought about by an improper use, might the burnt waste (waste ashes) from the coil cause a fire.
