Description:
SEQUENCIAL CUTTER FOR LOGS OF PAPER

DESCRIPTION:

a) The invention is about the sequential log saw for roll cutting and in particularly has got the invention the sequential cutting (in several sizes requested from the market) of tissue paper log having different diameters coming out from the rewinder machine and, once they are cut in single rolls of various length and diameter as requested from the market, they are transferred to the packaging line.

b) Log saws for tissue paper are very much used in tissue paper converting field. Nowadays log saws are very limited as production speed; in fact on the same production line it's necessary having more log saws. In addition to that, they have problems in end trims separation of the cut roll, they have problems in cutting the precise wished length of the roll. It's very limited because it works with alternative motions. In addition to that, it produces lot of waste with an end trim length 6/7cm.

With the sequential log saw we can cut from 0 up to 60 and more log per minute (the log is the tissue paper roller wound from the rewinder machine on a cardboard core. The length can vary from at least 1850mm up to 5500mm and more, it depends from the size of the rewinder machine), it doesn't exist alternative and intermittent motions, it's possible to cut roll lengths very precise because the log is still and well positioned during cutting phases, the trim separation is guaranteed 100% because each single roll, included the end trims, are individually held by means of appropriate hands independent one from the other and that release the cut rolls in the appropriate position of the evacuation belt while the end trims will be released in the following intermediate position into the properly collector.

c) The purpose of the invention is to create an automatic machine with a double and more production speed comparing to nowadays log saws, without alternative motions (up and down of the cutting blade in the nowadays) without intermittent motions (progress with log porters during each cutting phase of the nowadays log saws), to have an absolute guarantee into head trim separation of each log from the rest of the cut rolls, to have always the assurance even in production that the cutting length remains always the same we have set. The end trims are minimized of at least 1cm like for the two extremities.

According to the invention all of that can be obtained by assembling cutting blades (that can be circular, with various thickness, motorized, can be even at blade sector with shape with curvature properly studied not motorized) necessary to cut the whole length of the log in sequence (sequential log saw) in the following way:

cutting blades are assembled on properly arms and firmly fixed with guides axially assembled on a central body. They are split-level in axial and radial way one from the other, in a way that when one blade has cut the first head trim it starts the following blade to cut the first roll and so on for the numbers of cut we must done in the log to be cut.

Example: if we position 28 blades at a distance of 100mm one from the other we will obtain two end trims of a minimum thickness of 1 cm each and 27 cutting length 100mm. The total log length will be 2720mm. Of course, if there are two logs in the cutting position we will have 54 cut rolls and four end trims.

The 28 blades positioned on the central body will have finished to cut at the end of one turn of the central body which has got continuous and constant rotary motion. At the end of the turn it starts the following cutting phase with the following log properly positioned in the cutting position. The blades which are positioned at a distance of 100mm will make always the cut of 100mm till we will not electronically switch a new cutting length.

The feeding is composed of a rotary central body on which can be assembled at least 3 or 4 and more stations and for each station at least one, two or more automatic hands raws suitable to lock 1, 2 or more log. In case that the feeding is composed of 4 stations we have that the group makes a quarter turn for each processing phase. Phase one log catching, phase two turning of 1/4 turn it positions the log, strictly kept from the hands, in the cutting position, turning 1/4 more turn the cut rolls are positioned in the evacuation belt situated down. Phase 4 after having positioned the rolls into the evacuator in the intermediate position of the following quarter turn, at about half way of this portion of turn, the hands open which still contain the end trims that will be discharged in the properly container. In this phase we have got the absolute guarantee of the end trims separation of the cut rolls.

The invention will be now described using examples and referring to drawings as follows:

The enclosed Fig.1/1 shows at least one of the possibility of creation of the sequential log saw. In this drawing is represented the feeding group χ with 4 stations at 90° one from the other but can be assembled one feeding group with three stations at 120° one from the other.

The sequential log saw as enclosed Fig.1/1 is composed of two main groups: feeding group χ and cutting group Y.

Feeding group χ is divided in four groups carrying hands D equal and turns each time of a quarter-turn. Each group is composed by two hand rows D. In the enclosed drawing Fig.1/1 there are assembled two hands rows for each group. In the upper part χι hands D put on two rows are open and close immediately after that two logs are arrived. The group makes on rotation of a quarter-turn and positions in the station χ 2 , position in which the total cutting of the log into rolls having length and diameter electronically set has done. The group makes another quarter-turn and hands D are positioned in the lower part χ 3 where they provide to deposit the rolls on the evacuator belt W and to contain the end trims. At the end, the group makes the last quarter-turn and it stops in the position χ 4 with hands D all open. Approximately half way between χ 3 and χ hands (which always keep the end trims) open and let them fall into the properly container E. Of course each quarter-turn is done a total cutting of the two logs held by hands D.

The cutting group Y is composed of a central body A which turns always at the selected speed according to the cutting to be done, with assembled on it all the arms C carrying blades B suitable to make the cutting which will be necessary. In this Fig.1/1 is showed the sequential log saw in one of its various cutting sequences and in particularly is composed of 28 circular blades assembled on 28 arms. On the drawing we can see only 14 blades radially staged because the log sequential cutting is done with two blades which cut simultaneously, so the cutting sequence of 2+2+2, etc.

On the central body A of the group Y, which will be a steel roller or a metallic structure composed of carpentry are obtained many flats as there are arms C carrying blades B necessary to the cutting processing of the log.

Arms carrying blades B are fixed on properly guides at dovetail M in a way that they can be automatically moved in axial sense according to axe Z of the central body A of the group Y. Axial regulation for the automatic determination of the roll cutting length.

Arms length C is variable allowing the automatic regulation H of the various blades B independently one from the other, in the optimal point for cutting.

Automatically shorten they allows to disengage blades B which are not used during some cutting lengths.

On the arms C can be assembled neither traditional motorized circular blades B nor sectors of blades properly shaped and not motorized. The circular blades drive motor is fixed on arms. On the arms C there are assembled two wheels G motorized and automatically adjustable according to the usury of the blade.

The arms C carrying blades can be automatically and axially adjust along the central body in a way to find the right cutting length which is electronically set.

The central body A. turns in continuous, without never stopping, each complete turn makes one complete cutting of two logs. One complete turn of the group Y (cutting group) is a quarter-turn of the group χ (log feeding) in case is divided in four stations. Limiting case in the sequential log saw the arms can be assembled on the central body A on only one line, permitting at motorized blades B or at blades sectors properly shaped and not motorized to cut all the rolls, with the size electronically set, all in the same time.
