Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to devices for the administration of fluid therapy to the region of around the human eyes for stimulatory purposes. Particularly, the invention comprises a device for administering fluid therapy using water and/or other therapeutic fluids and/or substances to stimulate the eyes thus providing a generally relaxing and refreshing stimulative experience.

Claims:
CLAIMS

What is claimed is:

1. Serum applicating googles, comprising:

a. an ocular portion further comprising: at least one ocular component with at least one hinged lens assembly hingedly attached to the ocular component wherein the hinged lens assembly is capable of being closed down over the ocular component and fastened to it;

b. a strap affixed to both lateral ends of the ocular portion such that the strap and

ocular portion may be worn about the human head covering the eyes such that water and therapeutic substances placed in the ocular component is retained inside the closed, hinged lens assembly.

2. Serum applicating goggles of Claim 1 further comprising at least one vent orifice closed by a cap.

3. Serum applicating goggles of Claim 1 further comprising a circumferentially continuous seal around the hinged lens assembly.

4. Serum applicating goggles of Claim 1 wherein the strap is adjustable for length.

5. A method of using serum applicating googles comprising:

a. closing hinged lens assembly down and securing at least one fastening device to molded or cut fastening device enabler on the outer aspect the ocular compartment; b. placing the goggles over the eyes;

c. adjusting the tightness of the strap so the goggles are comfortably worn;

d. filling the ocular portion with water and/or therapeutic fluids and/or substances by means of a needle placed through an opened vent orifice,

e. closing the vent orifice by means of a cap; and f. waiting for a variable period of time for the water and/or therapeutic fluids and/or substances to affect the eyes.

6. A method of using serum applicating goggles of Claim 4 wherein the water and/or therapeutic fluids and/or substances are saline solution.

7. A method of using serum applicating goggles of Claim 4 wherein the water and/or therapeutic fluids and/or substances include vitamins A and E.

8. A method of using serum applicating goggles of Claim 4 wherein the water and/or therapeutic fluids and/or substances include autologous serum eye drops (ASED).

Serum Applicating Goggles

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001] This application takes reference to U.S. Prov. Pat. No. 62/286,403 filed 24 January 2016 and includes it in its entirety by reference.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present invention relates generally to devices for the administration of fluid therapy to the region of around the human eyes for stimulatory purposes. Particularly, the invention comprises a device for administering fluid therapy using water and/or other therapeutic fluids and/or substances to stimulate the eyes thus providing a generally relaxing and refreshing stimulative experience.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] It is well known that relaxing in a bath results in a stimulating and relaxing effect. This applies to the eyes also. To achieve such an effect the user's eyes may be partially or wholly immersed in water and/or other therapeutic fluids and/or substances in a variety of temperatures, from cold to hot. Therapeutic fluids include, but are not limited to, carbonated water, tonic water, astringent liquids, saline solution with vitamins A and E, and autologous serum eye drops (ASED). Therapeutic substances include, but are not limited to ice, bathing salts, and sea salt.

[0004] The administration of these substances to the region of the eyes is accomplished by means of a goggle. [0005] Thus, it is a first object of the present invention to provide a device that can be used to administer fluid therapy by allowing the user to expose the region of the eyes in water and/or other therapeutic fluids and/or substances. Therapeutic fluids include, but are not limited to, carbonated water, tonic water, astringent liquids, saline solution with vitamins A and E, and autologous serum eye drops (ASED). Therapeutic substances include, but are not limited to, ice, bathing salts, and sea salt.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] The device is comprised of a goggle further comprised of an ocular portion for containing water and/or other therapeutic fluids and/or substances and a strap portion.

[0007] The ocular portion of the present invention contains two ocular compartments each of which is further comprises a hinged lens assembly. Each hinged lens assembly contains at least one vent orifice and each vent orifice contains a cap. Each hinged lens assembly is attached at its bottom to the ocular portion of the present invention and has at least one fastening device located near the top of the hinged lens assembly. This fastening device interoperates with a molded or cut fastening device enabler on the outer aspect of the ocular compartment.

[0008] The ocular portion includes two hinged lens assemblies in the embodiment of the invention described herein. It will be obvious, however, that the ocular portion may include only one ocular compartment and one hinged lens assembly.

[0009] The lateral aspects of the ocular portion has at least two anchoring points for an adjustable strap. The adjustable strap interacts with the anchoring points by sliding through or physically attaching to the anchoring points. The anchoring points feature a resilience adjusting capability to allow the user to adjust the length of the adjustable strap.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0011] Referring now to Fig. 1, goggle 100 of the preferred embodiment of the present invention further comprises at least one ocular portion 101 with a strap 102 and a resilience adjusting device 103.

[0012] The ocular portion 101 contains at least one ocular compartment 110. It will be obvious that ocular portion 101 of the preferred embodiment of the present invention as shown contains two ocular compartments 110. Each ocular compartment 110 is further comprised of hinged lens assembly 114. Hinged lens assembly 114 is designed to cover lens opening 113 when closed and allow access to the eye when open. Each hinged lens assembly 114 contains at least one vent orifice 116 and each vent orifice 116 is opened and closed by cap 117. Each hinged lens assembly 114 is attached via a hinge at its bottom to ocular portion 101 and ocular compartment 110 of the present invention. Hinged lens assembly 114 is designed such that the aforementioned hinge is taught; i.e. tight enough that it holds hinged lens assembly 114 fixedly close to lens opening 113. Each hinged lens assembly 114 has at least one fastening device 112 located near the top of hinged lens assembly 114. Fastening device 112 interoperates with a molded or cut fastening device enabler 111 on the outer aspect of ocular portion 101 and ocular compartment 110 of the present invention. In the preferred embodiment rubber, plastic, and vinyl are suitable materials to construct ocular portion 101 of goggles 100.

[0013] Hinged lens assembly 114 further comprises a peripherally disposed sealing ring 115. Peripherally disposed sealing ring 115 creates a vacuum proof seal with ocular portion 101 and ocular compartment 110 of the present invention when hinged lens assembly 114 is closed. It will be obvious that while the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises sealing ring 115 peripherally disposed on hinged lens assembly 114, sealing ring 115 can be applied to, or manufactured as part of, ocular portion 101 that forms the circumferential periphery of lens opening 113.

[0014] Strap 102 is composed of stretchable material. Rubber, plastic, and vinyl are suitable materials. Ordinarily, strap 102 is attached to ocular portion 101 at an anchoring point at the left and right expanses of ocular portion 101. In the preferred embodiment, strap 102 is doubled over itself at the left and right expanses of ocular portion 101 and passes through a resilience adjusting device 103. It will be obvious to those having skill in the art that strap 102 may be adjustable for length at one or both of the left and right expanses of ocular portion 101 of goggles 100.

[0015] Goggles 100 may be used in the following manner: First, the user closes hinged lens assembly 114 down and secures the at least one fastening device 112 located near the top of hinged lens assembly 114 to molded or cut fastening device enabler 111 on the outer aspect of ocular portion 101 and ocular compartment 110 of the present invention. This secures hinged lens assembly 114 and peripherally disposed sealing ring 115 to the ocular compartment 110. This closes lens opening 113. Next, the user places goggles 100 over the eyes. Next, the user adjusts the tightness of strap 102 by means of resilience adjusting device 103 so the goggles 100 are comfortably worn. Next, the user ensures that the at least one vent orifice 116 is open using cap 117. Cap 117 may be friction fit or screw fit. Next, the user fills ocular portion 101 with water and/or therapeutic fluids and/or substances by means of a needle and vent orifice 116. Next, the user ensures that the at least one vent orifice 116 is closed using cap 117. As above, cap 117 may be friction fit or screw fit.

[0016] Goggles 100 may be used in the following alternate manner: First, the user closes hinged lens assembly 114 down and secures the at least one fastening device 112 located near the top of hinged lens assembly 114 to molded or cut fastening device enabler 111 on the outer aspect of ocular portion 101 and ocular compartment 110 of the present invention. This secures hinged lens assembly 114 and peripherally disposed sealing ring 115 to the ocular compartment 110. This closes lens opening 113. Next, the user ensures that the at least one vent orifice 116 is closed using cap 117. Cap 117 may be friction fit or screw fit. Next, the user places goggles 100 down on a flat surface. Next the user fills ocular portion 101 with water and/or therapeutic fluids and/or substances. Next, the user places goggles 100 over the eyes. Next, the user adjusts the tightness of strap 102 by means of resilience adjusting device 103 so the goggles 100 are comfortably worn.

[0017] Assuming the user is using the preferred embodiment of the present invention, only one of ocular compartments 110 may be filled and the other left empty and open. To wit, hinged lens assembly 114 is rotated up thus allowing the user to look through lens opening 113. By this means, only one eye is treated at a time, while the other eye is used normally.

[0018] In another embodiment hinged lens assembly 114 is provided in a color different from the color of ocular portion 101. [0019] In another embodiment hinged lens assembly 114 is provided with a molded or manufactured optical surface thus allowing the user to wear goggles 100 in lieu of glasses.

[0020] While the invention has been described in connection with what are considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments, it is to be understood that the invention is not to be limited to the disclosed embodiments, variants, and sub-variants, but on the contrary is intended to cover various modifications and equivalent arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the disclosure.
