Abstract:
A server according to an example comprises a communication circuit, a processor, and a memory. The memory stores instructions to, when executed by the processor, allow the server to obtain regional policy files including firmware update policies to be applied so as to sequentially distribute a firmware update to electronic devices located in a plurality of regions in a list of target regions, transmit the regional policy files to edge servers respectively corresponding to the plurality of regions within a content delivery network (CDN) for the firmware update, and receive a firmware download request originating from an electronic device, wherein the firmware download request is processed on the basis of a first regional policy file corresponding to a region where the electronic device is located, and in response to receiving the firmware download request, on the basis of an IP address of the electronic device and a location of a first edge server, allow the first edge server, which has obtained the first regional policy file, to transmit a firmware package file to the electronic device.
