Title:
SET PLAYING ELEMENTS FOR BILLIARDS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2003/090885
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The invention concerns a game element (2) for billiards. The game (2) has one or more trap holes (4) which have a pinching part (9) so that a ball stays in the trap hole (4). The trap holes (4) are in phased position and are connected by straight cushions (12). In most cases there are four game elements (4) used on a billiards. The game element (2) is placed in the corners of the billiards and if necessary fixed. The configuration of the game element (2) is constructed with the squares with sides of about the diameter of the billiard ball (5) and where the central line of the trap hole (4) is directed under an angle of 45 degrees. The trap hole (4) has in the beginning the dimension of a diagonal (7), while the connecting cushions (12) have the dimension of the side. The preferred execution of the game element (2) has tree trap holes (4) and five cushions (12) of which four cushions (12) are parallel with one billiard cushion (3) and one cushion (12) parallel with the other billiard cushion (3).

1. Set game elements for billiards characterised by that the game elements (2) are placed in the field of play (1) of a billiards where the game elements (2) are foreseen with trap holes (4) where into billiard balls (5), having different colours and or foreseen with markings, have to be played in.
2. Set of game elements as in claim 1 characterised by that the game elements (2) have about the form of a rightangled triangle with and fit in the comer of the field of play (1) of the billiards where 1,2 or 3 trap holes (4) in phased placement are constructed on a pattern of squares (6) with a side that corresponds with the diameter of the billiard balls (5) where the trap holes (4) are connected with straight cushions (12,13).
3. Set of game elements as in claim 1 and 2 characterised by that the trap hole (4) streches along the diagonal (7) of a pattern square (6) where a circular contour to diagonal (8) the billiard ball (5) leads to a jamming part (9) where the game element (2) has a connecting hollowing out.
4. Set of game elements as in claim 1,2 and 3 characterised by that the game elements (2) consists of a metal core (10) having fixed around elastic material (11) having about the same elastic quality as the cushion (3) of the billiards where the height of the game element (2) is the same as the cushion (3) and where the game element (2) is tapered the same way as the cushion (3).

Description:
Set playina elements for billiards.

The invention concerns a set of game elements which make it possible to perform different plays on a billiards where several coloured and marked billiard balls are used. The game elements are having trap holes where the billiard ball is slowed down or pinched. The trap holes are in phased position and are connected by straight cushions. In most cases there will be four elements used, of what two in mirror image, in different configurations.

Elements like these are known from the Dutch application NL 8301413. These elements have cushions under an angle of 45 degrees causing the track of the billiard balls to be practically unpredictable. Also the trap holes are not under an angle of 45 degrees so that the direction of entry is not symmetrical.

The invention concerns game elements which can be placed in different combinations on the field of play of the billiards through what a great variety of games is possible.

The game elements have preferable three trap holes and five cushion sides of which are four parallel with one cushion and one to the other cushion of the billiards.

The invention is explained on hand of the drawing.

Fig. 1 shows a game element in the corner of the field of play of a billiards.

Fig. 2 shows a cross section as per line 11-Il.

Fig. 3 shows the configuration of the trap hole.

In Fig. 1 is the field of play of a billiards indicated with (1). In the comer of the field of play (1) is a game element (2) placed against the cushions (3) of the billiards. The game element (2) has trap holes (4) in which billiard ball (5) can be catcht.

Trap hole (4) has a configuration which is based on the diameter of the billiard ball (5). A pattern of squares (6) on the level of the centre of the billiard ball (5) with a side which is equal with the diameter of the billiard ball (5) is the basis of the trap hole (4). The entry is the diagonal (7), permitting the billiard balls (5) which are running parallel with the cushions (3) to roll into trap hole (4). Trap hole (4) change course circular to diagonal (8) where after trap hole (4) narrows conical (9) and there after ends circular with a somewhat smaller diameter than that of the billiard ball (5). The axis of trap hole (4) is placed under an angle of 45 degrees in relation of the cushions (3) of the billiards.

The trap holes (4) are connected by cushions (12) which are parallel with the cushions (3). The game element (2) joins with two head sides (13) against cushion (3).

The game element (4) contains a metal core (10) which is covered with a layer (11) of elastic synthetic material, having about the same elasticity of the cushions (3) of the billiards. The

game element (2) has the same height as the cushion of the billiards and is in the same way tapered so the balls bounce the same way as against the cushions (3) By the weight of the metal core (10) the game element (2) will stay stable on the field of play (1).

The game element (2) can be placed in different combinations on the field of play. In principle sets of four elements of play (2) are used where of two are carried out in mirror image.

The to be used balls can have colours and be foreseen with numbers and signs like symbols of playing at cards, hearts, spades, clubs or the like.
