Abstract:

A settler where all the walls (6, 7, 8, 9) of each tray-like device (5) are inclined outwards. The tray-like devices (5) are so spaced from each other that the distance (h) between the bottoms (10) of the neighbouring tray-like devices (5) is smaller than the height of their walls (6, 7, 8, 9). Each device for letting out one of the phases consists of an essentially vertical channel (16) with the surface of its inlet opening (17) larger than that of its outlet opening (18). The channel (16) is so mounted that its walls (20) pass through the bottom (10) of the tray-like device (5). The outlet opening (18) of the channel (16) is separated from the bottom (10) of the tray-like device by a greater distance than the inlet opening (17) of said channel (16). The channel (16) is provided with a regulating element (19).
