Abstract:
A sewing machine foot has a foot mounting part (44) secured to a pressing bar (14),
a pressing part (46) for pressing an article to be sewed when a needle (12) pierces
the article, a swing arm (47) having an element guide groove (42) for guiding an
element row (9) of a slide fastener (8) inserted in the groove, supported on the
foot mounting part (44) so as to be swingable relative to the foot mounting part
(44), and swinging in a vertical plane in parallel with a sewing line (28) during
sewing, and biasing means (52) disposed between the foot mounting part (44) and
the swing arm (47) and biasing the swing arm (47) relative to the foot mounting
part (44) toward the article to be sewed. The construction enables the element
row (9) of the slide fastener (8) to be guided both when the needle (12) pierces
the article and when the needle forms a seam, and as a result, thick fabric (6) and
a hidden slide fastener (8) which are difficult to sew to each other can be accurately
positioned and sewn.
