Abstract:
A sewing machine, wherein a recessed part (2a) into which a worker can enter is formed at the end of a table (2) on which a sewing frame (embroidery frame) (5) is placed, and a switch box (8) having a retreating switch (11) used for providing a retreating instruction for moving the sewing frame (5) to a specified retreating position is disposed near the recessed part (2a). When the worker operates the retreating switch (11) to provide the retreating instruction when the sewing frame (5) is positioned on the upper side of the recessed part (2a) with the sewing machine stopped, a Y-direction drive mechanism (7) is controlled so that the sewing frame (5) can be moved to the specified retreating position. Thus, a treatment to be performed when the sewing machine under sewing operation is temporarily stopped due to thread breakage can be efficiently performed.
