Abstract:
A sewing machine provided with: a pair of feed bases (41) accommodated in a cylinder (3), each of the feed bases operating in an associated manner so as to trace an ellipsoidal trajectory as viewed from the side, whereby a cloth can be fed; an oil seal (61) surrounding the entire periphery of the pair of feed bases (41) in a direction intersecting the long direction, the oil seal (61) coming into contact with the outer surface of the pair of feed bases (41); and a seal support part (62) provided on the inner wall of the cylinder (3), the seal support part (62) supporting the oil seal (61); the pair of feed bases (41) being configured so as to be able to move upward from an opening (31) of the cylinder (3), and the seal support part (62) being provided with an upper opening (625) that permits the pair of feed bases (41) to move upward, whereby, when the pair of feed bases (41) are moved above the opening (31), the seal support part (62) is rendered immobile in relation to the cylinder (3).
