Abstract:
Provided is a sewing machine with which the possibility of forming a tapering pattern at a position intended by a user is improved in comparison to the prior art. A control unit of the sewing machine acquires sewing data for continuously forming a utility pattern in a first direction (S1). The control unit acquires a condition for sewing a tapering pattern including a tapering portion in which the utility pattern is deformed in a taper toward one side in the first direction (S2). On the basis of the sewing data, the condition, and the captured image, the control unit generates a display image, in which the image representing the tapering pattern is placed in the intended sewing position of the tapering pattern on the captured image in the intended sewing size (S12). The control unit displays the display image after starting the sewing of the utility pattern (S13). After starting the process of displaying the display image, and in accordance with the sewing data and the condition, the control unit controls a sewing unit, a conveying unit, and a movement unit to sew the tapering pattern as a continuation of the utility pattern (S15).
