Title:
SHAFT COUPLING AND IN-WHEEL MOTOR SYSTEM USING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/007709
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A shaft coupling capable of always providing stable power transmission characteristics by a system in which power is transmitted through rolling elements disposed between two axes positioned parallel with each other at the intersections of guide grooves crossing perpendicularly to each other. Guide grooves (5, 6) in the opposed surfaces of both plates (1, 2) are so formed that these two grooves in proximity with to each other in each of the plates can be extended in directions at an angle of 45° relative to reference lines X connecting the mid points of the intersections and the center of the plate. The elongated holes (7) of a cage (4) are formed to be extended along a straightline connecting the intersections of two guide grooves in proximity to each other. Accordingly, the position of two sets of rolling element guide mechanisms (8) sharing one elongated hole (7) among those rolling element guide mechanisms (8) in which one elongated hole (7) and the pair of guide grooves (5, 6) crossing the elongated hole are used as a set is differentiated from the rotating direction of the cage. Since the relative rotation of the cage (4) to both plates (1, 2) is prevented from occurring when the power is transmitted between these both plates (1, 2), the power transmission characteristics can be stabilized.
