Abstract:
Disclosed is a shaft seal device (10) that partitions a space between a rotor (6) and a stator into a high-pressure side and a low-pressure side, the shaft seal device (10) comprising: a seal body (12) made by layering a plurality of thin-plate seal pieces (20) in the circumferential direction of the rotor, each thin-plate seal piece extending from the stator toward the rotor side; and a housing (9) that is fixed to the stator, holds the seal body (12) so as to surround the same from radially outside, and includes a first opposing surface (13) that opposes the high-pressure-side edge of the seal body (12) and a second opposing surface (22) that opposes the low-pressure-side edge (20a) of the seal body. The high-pressure-side clearance (t0) between the seal body (12) and the first opposing surface (13) is smaller than the low-pressure-side clearance (t1) between the seal body (12) and the second opposing surface (22), and a slope part (20b) that slopes gradually toward the high-pressure side toward the tip end, which is on the rotor side, is formed in the low-pressure-side edge (20a) of each thin-plate seal piece (20) of the seal body (12).
