Abstract:
Provided are a shaft and a seal structure with which it is possible to reduce sliding resistance of a seal ring regardless of friction over time on a side surface of the seal ring. This shaft 200 rotates relative to a housing 300, and the outer peripheral side of the shaft is provided with an annular groove 210 into which is fitted a resin seal ring 400 for sealing an annular gap between the housing 300 and the seal ring 400 and maintaining pressure of a fluid to be sealed; wherein a side wall surface 213 against which the seal ring 400 slides in the annular groove 210 is made of metal, and formed in the side wall surface 213 is a dynamic pressure generation groove 220 for generating dynamic pressure by means of the fluid to be sealed, which is guided in during relative rotation.
