Abstract:
Provided is a shaft sealing device capable of maintaining the sealing performance or durability of a magnetic fluid sealing part. The shaft sealing device seals an annular gap formed between a shaft hole of a housing and a rotary shaft inserted into the shaft hole, and is provided with: a cylindrical seal cover 3 provided on the outer circumference of a rotary shaft 102 that is inserted into a shaft hole of a housing 100; a flexible member 4 which connects the seal cover to the housing; an auxiliary sealing part 5 provided on the inside of a device with respect to the axial direction of the seal cover; a magnetic fluid sealing part 6 provided further outside the device than the auxiliary sealing part; and bearings 7 and 8 which support the load of the magnetic fluid sealing part 6, wherein a pressure damping chamber B, which is maintained at a lower pressure than the pressure outside the device, is provided, inside the seal cover 3, between the auxiliary sealing part 5 and the magnetic fluid sealing part 6.
