Abstract:

A shape control method comprising the steps of applying a voltage between an electrically conductive grindstone (2) and an electrode (4) spaced from the grindstone (2) while allowing a conductive liquid (7) to flow between the grindstone and the electrode so as to dress the grindstone, perfoming numerical control of the position of the grindstone, and grinding a work with the grindstone. A work is ground on the basis of command data Zx(i), the shape of the ground surface is measured by a measuring instrument (12), measurement data are filtered, shape error data ex(i) are registered, new command data Zx(i+1) are generated by correcting the previous command data Zx(i), and the work is again ground on the basis of the new command data. For the correction the past command data are referred to and the expected values of these command data are used as the new command data. Accordingly, a high shape accuracy is achieved with a small number of grindings, a true shape signal is extracted from the measurement data, and misregistration of the mounting and dismounting of the work is prevented.
