Abstract:
A sheet space detecting device (10, 19) is for detecting a space (S) between a rear end (52) of a first fiber reinforced plastic sheet (50) and a front end (61) of a second fiber reinforced plastic sheet (60), where the former precedes the latter on a conveyance path (3) for fiber reinforced plastic sheets (P2). The sheet space detecting device comprises: a light detecting sensor (30) that shines inspection light (30a) onto a region including the rear end of the first fiber reinforced plastic sheet, the front end of the second fiber reinforced plastic sheet, and a reference surface (P1) exposed through the space, and receives light reflected back from the region; and a spacer (40) that supports the rear end of the first fiber reinforced plastic sheet and the front end of the second fiber reinforced plastic sheet in a state spaced apart from the reference surface in a region that includes at least the region onto which the inspection light is shone.
