Abstract:
This sheet specification device comprises a light radiation unit. The light radiation unit, in the formation of a specified image (Im1), projects pattern light (P1) onto a specified region (R1), the pattern light including a vertical-direction component (C1) that runs along a sheet conveyance direction (D1) and a horizontal-direction component (C2) that is orthogonal to the vertical-direction component (C1). The specified image (Im1) is an image of the specified region (R1) on a sheet surface, which is an image formation target or an image reading target, and is to be used in specifying surface information relating to the state of the sheet surface.
