Abstract:
A sheet transporting device is provided with a casing in which a transport path is provided, a transporting means for transporting a sheet along the transport path, an ejection port from which the sheet transported along the transport path is ejected, an ejection tray in which to sheets ejected from the ejection port are placed, and an orientation-changing means for changing the orientation of the ejection tray. The ejection tray has a first sheet receiving surface on which the leading edge of the sheet lands in the portion facing the ejection port in the sheet ejection direction, and a second sheet receiving surface formed at a designated incline in relation to the first sheet receiving surface. The orientation-changing means changes the orientation of the ejection tray such that the first sheet receiving surface of the ejection tray will be set at an incline toward the ejection port.
