Title:
SHIELDING DEVICE FOR REGIONS OF ELEMENT PIPE TO BE WELDED IN ELECTRIC RESISTANCE-WELDED STEEL PIPE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/156057
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to solve the problem of prior art that the generation of penetrators could not be prevented because it was not possible to adequately reduce the oxygen concentration of the regions being welded by reliably gas-shielding said area during electric resistance welding without making sacrifices in terms of pipe-making cost and efficiency. The present invention is a shielding device for the regions of the element pipe to be welded in an electric resistance-welded steel pipe, wherein shielding gas (5) from the gas discharge port (1A) of a shielding gas-blowing nozzle (1), the gas discharge port of which is disposed at a position 5-300 mm above the upper edges of the regions (11) to be welded, is blown on the regions to be welded by controlling the gas flow rate to 0.5-50 m/s using a gas flow adjustor (3).
