Abstract:
When a shift lever (12) is at the home position and an operator performs a first predetermined operation of pressing a first button (16), the shift range inevitably switches to the N range no matter where the "current position" of the shift range is. While continuing to press the first button, the operator performs a second predetermined operation of moving the shift lever (12) from the home position, which is in the center of the three shift positions, to the upper A position or the lower B position which respectively correspond to a position marked R or a position marked D. As a consequence, the shift range can be switched from the N range to the R range or the D range (N→R, N→D).
