Abstract:
In this shift device (10), the placement of a magnet (28) with respect to a sensor (34) can be changed by rotating the ball shaft (18) of a lever (16), and magnetic field generated by the magnet (28) is detected by the sensor (34), thereby causing the shift position of the lever (16) to be detected. A shield (26) prevents magnetic field outside the ball shaft (18) from reaching the sensor (34). Because the magnet (28), sensor (34), and shield (26) are placed in the ball shaft (18), the shift device (10) can be downsized.
