Abstract:
Provided is a ship propulsion apparatus which has few frictional portions in the main driving mechanism and has a simple structure, generates little water pollution or noise, and is easy to handle. This ship propulsion apparatus 10 for generating propulsive force from the counteraction to the jetting of jet water 31 from a nozzle 3 is provided with: a main body combustion chamber 1 comprising a cylindrical container disposed at or below the waterline B of the hull; a jetting hole 2 that opens to the rear end of the main body combustion chamber 1; a check valve 4 which is disposed at the front end of the main body combustion chamber 1 and allows only inflow; a combustible gas pressure-filling unit 5 for filling combustible gas 13 including oxygen and combustible fluid by means of pressure so as to cover at least an ignition position 9 of the main body combustion chamber 1 after the main body combustion chamber 1 has been filled with a specified amount of filling water W introduced through the check valve 4; an igniter 6 capable of the discharge ignition of the combustible gas 13 covering the ignition position 9; and a control unit 8 for activating the combustible gas pressure-filling unit 5 and the igniter 6 in a specified sequence.
