Abstract:
[Problem] To provide: a shock absorber lubricant composition with which it is possible to achieve both handling stability and riding comfort; a lubricant additive; and a method for adjusting a frictional property of the shock absorber lubricant composition. [Solution] A shock absorber lubricant composition according to the present invention contains a base oil and a pentaerythritol ester, and has a frictional property satisfying formula (1) below when the ratio (Fsa - Fave)/Fave of the difference between a peak value Fsa of frictional force and an average frictional force Fave when transitioning from a stationary state to a sliding state during a micro-amplitude, and the average frictional force Fave during the micro-amplitude, is denoted by a responsiveness RI. (1): RI > 1.75 × Fave - 0.05
