Abstract:
This shock absorber is provided with a shock absorber main body interposed between the vehicle body and a wheel, a cylinder linked to the wheel side and standing upright in the axial center of the shock absorber main body, a fluid chamber formed inside of the cylinder and filled with a work fluid, an annular rod guide fixed to the cylinder and blocking the vehicle side of the fluid chamber, a piston rod linked to the vehicle body side and entering and exiting the cylinder through the axial center of the rod guide, an annular seal member held in the inner periphery of the rod guide and in sliding contact with the outer peripheral surface of the piston rod, and a relief unit formed on the outer periphery of the piston rod and, when the piston rod has exited a prescribed amount from the cylinder, forming a gap between the piston rod and the seal member.
