Abstract:
This shock absorber is provided with a piston unit which is arranged at the bottom of an inner tube and which separates a work chamber into an extension-side and a compression-side chamber. The piston unit is provided with: an annularly formed upper and lower valve seat which are fixed in the inner tube and are spaced from a hollow rod by a gap; an annular first valve body which is arranged so as to allow axial movement between the upper and lower valve seats and which is in sliding contact with the outer peripheral surface of the hollow rod; and an annular first flow path which is formed on the outer periphery of the first valve body and which communicates with the extension-side and compression-side chambers. When resting against the upper valve seat, the first valve body is configured to block communication of the first valve path and, when removed from the upper valve seat, to allow communication of the first flow path even if said valve body rests against the lower valve seat.
