Abstract:
A shock absorber which can be reduced in size is provided. This shock absorber is provided with a housing 131 having the shape of a bottomed cylinder, a disc 134 which is provided so as to be capable of moving with respect to the housing 131 and which, with the bottom portion 141 of the housing 131, forms a housing inner chamber 171, and an opposing member 139 which is opposed to the disc 134 and is disposed to the side of the disc 134 opposite of the bottom portion 141, wherein the housing 131 and the inner peripheral side of the opposing member 139 are fastened by insertion of a piston rod 21; a protruding portion 143 which restricts movement of the disc 134 is formed on the bottom portion 141 of the housing 131 or on the opposing member 139 so as to protrude towards the disc 134; and, on the disc 134, a seal part 158 for sealing between the outer periphery of the disc 134 and the inner periphery of the housing 131 is provided on the same side as protruding part 143.
