Abstract:
A shock absorber 1 wherein a contraction-side damping force generation mechanism 55 and an extension-side damping force generation mechanism 74 each have, arranged side by side along the axial direction of a cylinder 2, a valve block 101 for generating damping force and a solenoid block 100 for changing the damping force of the valve block 101. The contraction-side damping force generation mechanism 55 and the extension-side damping force generation mechanism 74 are arranged apart from each other in the axial direction of the cylinder 2. In this way, the space occupied by the contraction-side damping force generation mechanism 55 and the extension-side damping force generation mechanism 74 along the radial direction on an outer side of an outer tube 3 can be reduced.
