Abstract:
In the present invention, during the contraction stroke of a piston rod a working fluid in a cylinder lower chamber is introduced into a back pressure chamber via the outer periphery of an extension-side main valve; therefore, it is not necessary to arrange a plurality of disks and a check valve in order to form a passage for introducing working fluid in the cylinder lower chamber on the upstream side into the back pressure chamber during the contraction stroke. Thus, the axial length of a shaft section of the piston rod, and consequently the overall length of the cylinder, can be reduced, and the size of the shock absorber can be reduced.
