Abstract:
A shock absorber comprising: a cylinder; a piston rod which is movably inserted into the cylinder and which generates a damping force when moving inside the cylinder, the piston rod having one end extending toward the outside of the cylinder; a sealing member fixed to the cylinder in slidable contact with the piston rod; and a friction member for generating a frictional force in accordance with the relative movement between the cylinder and the piston rod. The friction member is provided with: a first friction portion which is fixed to one of the cylinder and the piston rod in slidable contact with the other one of the cylinder and the piston rod; and a second friction portion which is fixed to one of the cylinder and the piston rod in slidable contact with the other one of the cylinder and the piston rod, and which starts to slide in accordance with the relative movement between the cylinder and the piston rod at a timing different from that of the first friction portion, and which generates an adjustable frictional force.
