Abstract:
The objectives of the present invention are to provide a shock-absorbing body formed so as to have a fragile spot on at least a portion of a front-end wall of a groove rib, and to provide a shock-absorbing body that exhibits fracture behavior in accordance with the design intention. The present invention is a shock-absorbing body comprising a hollow molded body having a hollow part, wherein the hollow molded body is equipped with a front surface wall and a rear surface wall opposing each other with an interval therebetween, and side walls connecting the front surface wall and the rear surface wall, the side walls are provided with front-surface-side groove ribs formed by indenting the front surface wall, and rear-surface-side groove ribs formed by indenting the rear surface wall, and side groove walls are formed by welding together at least a portion of a front-end wall of the front-surface-side groove ribs and a front-end wall of the rear-surface-side groove ribs. The shock-absorbing body is equipped with configuration (1) and/or configuration (2). (1) On at least a portion of each side groove wall there is a fragile spot configured so as to fracture when a shock is incurred. (2) The front-surface-side groove ribs include first and second front-surface-side groove ribs and the rear-surface-side groove ribs include first and second rear-surface-side groove ribs, and first and second side groove walls are formed respectively by welding together at least a portion of a front-end wall of the first and second front-surface side groove ribs and a front-end wall of the first and second rear-surface-side groove ribs, and the thickness of the thinnest part of the second side groove walls is less than the thickness of the thinnest part of the first side groove walls.
