Abstract:
A shock absorbing steering column unit for vehicle in which an upper column is fitted, while being moved forward of a vehicle, to a lower column secured to the chassis such that shock energy is absorbed at the time of secondary collision. One or both sliding faces at the fitting part of both columns is subjected to treatment of low frictional material or provided with a sleeve subjected to treatment of low frictional material.
