Title:
SHOCK ABSORBING STEERING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/026257
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
[Problem] To achieve a structure that allows a steering wheel to be displaced smoothly forwards during a secondary collision, even if the structure is provided in a laterally protruding state with an electric motor (13a) that configures an electric power steering device. [Solution] The present invention is provided with members that connect/affix to and between a portion affixed to the vehicle body and a left-right pair of attachment plates (17c) provided to a column-side bracket (10c) supported by a steering column (6c), and by means of causing the rigidity and coefficient of friction of these members to be different from one another, the load required for the pair of attachment plates (17) to disengage in the forward direction from the portion affixed to the vehicle body is caused to be greater on the side further from and lesser on the side closer to the electric motor (13a). The tendency for more difficult forward disengagement on the side where the electric motor (13a) is installed and where the inertial mass is greater and the ease of disengagement of the attachment plates offset each other.
