Abstract:
Provided is a shock-absorbing structure that is for a vehicle and that is provided with at least one shock-absorbing member disposed between two members (11, 13) that configure the vehicle body. The shock-absorbing member (21) is a columnar wooden member of which the direction of fibers is parallel to the axial direction thereof, and absorbs shocks during a vehicle collision by incurring a compressive load in the axial direction and undergoing compressive deformation. In the shock-absorbing member (21), the timing of the start of compressive deformation is staggered in a localized manner with respect to the direction perpendicular to the axis thereof.
