Abstract:
An article of footwear includes a sole (12), and an upper portion (14), which forms a shell. The shell having a collar (16) for extending around a user's ankle and a suspension system (28,30,32). The suspension system transfers reaction forces from the sole to the collar whereby the system reduces overturning moment forces of the user's ankle when lateral forces are applied to the article of footwear.
