Abstract:
A short-focus folding optical system and a virtual reality display device. The short-focus folding optical system comprises: a display unit (10) and a light folding unit (20), wherein the display unit (10) is configured to emit image light (101) in a circularly polarized state to the light folding unit (20); the light folding unit (20) is configured to fold and propagate the image light (101) to a human eye (30); and the light folding unit (20) comprises a first lens (21), a second lens (22), a first quarter-wave plate (23), and a reflective polarizer (24). By means of the polarization characteristic of light, the image light (101) is reflected and refracted multiple times in the light folding unit (20); and by means of increasing the number of times of turn-back of the image light (101), the length of the optical system is reduced, and the number of used optical lenses can also be reduced, thereby achieving the advantages of a small volume, a light weight and a high resolution.
