Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1999/022875
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The invention applies to shower pulsator with vibrating ball and is composed of the following: cylinder (1), ball (2), spray (5) and disk (6). On the disk (6) there is a primary nozzle (3) throughout the water arrives. On the spray (5) there are the channels (12) through which the water flows. Inside the cylinder (1) there are two chambers: ball chamber (9) and distributor chamber (10). The both chambers are connected by the secondary nozzle (4). This pulsator solves the problem of obtaining the pulsating water spray suitable for shower bath or water massage therapy. The pulsating is obtained without rotating elements. The essence of this invention is the free ball (2) placed in the chamber (9). The spray is obtained when water flows throughout the central nozzle (4). Inside the ball chamber (9) towards the secondary nozzle (4) is placed the spray (5) which prevents that the ball covers the nozzle (4) blocking the flow. The spray (5) also has the second function to disperse and to slow down the water jet during it runs throughout the nozzle (4) and to facilitate the penetration of air from the vacuum (13) towards the ball (2). Besides the function to mix the water and air the ball (2) vibrates and makes the additional pulsating of the water jet.

Description:
SHOWER PULSATOR WITH VIBRATING BALL INVENTION FIELD This invention falls into mecchanical engineering field, precisely the field pertaining to devices for regulating the flow of fluids and it applies to handle shower or tc fixed shower in the bathrooms as to water massage devices. According to the international patent classification its code is: F 16 K3/26.

TECHNICAL PROBLEM The technical problem solved by this invention is the following: How construct the device for shower bath and water massage without rotating parts for interruption of water flow using the air suction effect during the stream of water flows out. The technical problem also includes a solution for flowing out of fluids in the way which prevents the clogging of the nozzles caused by the calcareous deposit or by particles in the water and which gives an abundant spray for shower bath.

UP-10-DATE TECHNOLOGY The already known water massage devices use the system where the interruption of water flow is usually done by shovel-Like rotating elements in turbine shape propeled by water which flows out from large number of little nozzles or holes. At the other part there are valves with the ball for blocking the water flow, where we emphasize an one way valve with the ball lifted by the spring. The flow is close when the ball is free and is open when the ball is lifted. Our invention has no spring, the ball is free in its chamber and its function is not to block the flow but to make vibrations. We emphasize specialy the well known solution pertaining to devices which mix the water and air at flowing out, the USA patent 5,381,957 which works as follows: The water runs into the compression chamber where the diameter is reducing gradually and runs through hole where the pression is increasing and the water flow becomes slower. The water runs forth into the cone shaped mixing chamber and than runs into the more open cone shaped expansion chamber and hits the board with circumferential holes where one part of the water flows through the holes into distributor where the water is forming in spray for shower bath and the other part of the water turns back sucking the air by itself.

The process is repeating alternately and so the water is mixed with air and such mix flows out from the shower nozzles.

A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF FIGURES The function of invention is described precisely at the enclosed Figures: Figure 1 : pulsator according to invention requirements-vertical section Figure 2 : pulsator, axis-metric look-partial vertical section Figure 3 : spray-frontal Look Figure 4 : pulsator without distributor-vertical section DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION The shower pulsator with vibrating ball according to invention requirements, as per Figures 1 and 2 is made of the following parts: cylinder 1, ball 2, primary nozzle 3, secondary nozzle 4, spray 5, disk 6, shower hose 7, hose nut 8, ball chamber 9, distributor chamber 10, jet 11, channel 12 and vacum 13. The Figure 4 shows the following position: cylinder 14, back side of the ball 15, the ball in the position of running out 16 and jet 17. During the experiment it has been noticed that the ball used for pulsator according to invention requirements vibrates when the water flows out. We follow the description as per Figure 4: the water runs through hose 7 which is connected to cylinder 14 by nut 8. The disk 6 with the nozzle 3 in the middle is placed into cylinder 14 at the side where the water arrives. When the ball 2 is placed into cylinder 14 and the water is turned on the ball will be thrown out by the jet 17 from the cylinder 14 as the cylinder is open at the side where the water flows out. If firstly we turn on the water and the water flows out in powerful stream and than we place the ball 2 into cylinder 14 the ball simply will be covered as being suck into, the ball 2 will take the position as per Figure 4 and will start to vibrate noisily moving up and down with no tendency to run out at the open end of cylinder 14. As the water flow increases by turning on a tap the ball vibrates intensively. When we reduce the water flow and turn off a tap the ball will run out at the free end of cylinder 14.

We applied this situation to pulsator according to invention requirements which description we follow as per Figure 1. The ball 2 is placed into the chamber 9. Behind the ball 2 in the chamber 9 the spray 5 is placed, with the double function, the first one is to hold the ball 2 at the distance from the secondary nozzle 4, because when we start to turn on a tap, the ball 2 will cover the nozzle 4 and will block the flow and the second one is to disperse the water when it runs through the channel 12 and at the same time to slow down the flow for the purpose of obtaining in distributor chamber 10 the wide water jet for shower bath.

The powerful water jet from nozzle 3 hits the ball 2 and lifts it in the direction of flowing out. The air from outside comes into the vacuum 13 and penetrates throughout the spray, passing through the same channels 12 through which the water flows towards the ball 2.

When the air enters into the chamber 9 the water does not flow out. The air and the water pushed from the spray 5 Lift the ball 2 back, towards the nozzle 3. The water jet from the nozzle 3 is so powerful and pushes the ball back. That caused the ball vibrating which disturbes additionaly the Mater flow and gives the jet with pulsating effect. The various frequency oscilation of the ball can be obtained by varying the relation between the diameter of chamber 9 and dimension of ball 2. The hitting effect of the jet can be reduced or increased which depends on material used for ball production which can be: plastic, rubber, metal, brass or steel. The secondary nozzle should have the diameter larger than diameter of the primary nozzle and the relation between the nozzle cones and the ball should be as following: the primary nozzle 3 has the collecting cone and the secondary nozzle 4 has the dispersive cone. Construction: cylinder 1 has two chambers, the ball chamber 9 and the distributor chamber 10.

In the middle of the partition which divides the chambers is placed the secondary nozzle 4 with the cone open in flow direction. The distributor chamber 10 has the conical opening in flow direction with angle minor than 5°. The lenght of chamber 10 should not be minor than double diameter of the chamber. The ball chamber 9 should be minor than distributor chamber 10. Into the cylinder shaped ball chamber 9 firstly shall be installe the spray 5 than the ball 2 and finally the disk 6 shall be placed in its position which has in the middle the nozzle 3 placed in the way that the larger diameter of the cone is turned towards the direction of water flow. The shower hose or some other connection in the wall shall be attached properly to cylinder 1 by the nut 8. The cone of the primary nozzle 3 shall not be Larger than 30°.

The shower pulsator with vibrating ball can be used as hand shower or as water massage spray and is suitable as water massage device for massage with cold or warm water for hydrotherapy in the spas and hospitals.

The pulsator can be installe on shower hose with standard dimensions or on the pipe on the wall or on the ceiling. The pulsator shall be manufactured in the plastic molding technology. The first cast includes the cylinder 1 with the chambers 9 and 10, the second cast is spray 5, the third one is disk 6 and the ball 2 can be manufactured by plastic molding or can be chosen the standard already manufactured ball.

The shower hose 7 with the nut 8 can be chosen as already manufactured part with standard dimensions.
