Title:
SHRINK FIT TOOL HOLDER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/027558
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In a cutting tool (30), a flat surface (32) is formed with a required length from the inserted end and a circumferential groove (33) is formed at the back end of the flat surface. When the cutting tool is inserted into the holding hole (20) of a chuck (2), a projection (21) passes through the space (S) between the flat surface and the inner circumferential surface of the holding hole and reaches the groove. When the cutting tool is rotated from said state, the projection moves in the longitudinal direction of the groove and engages with the side edges of the groove, thereby keeping the cutting tool from slipping out of the chuck. When the slip-out-preventing projection reaches the groove, a rotation-stopping projection (22) is within the borders of the flat surface, engages with the edge of the space (S) with the rotation of the cutting tool and stops the rotation of the cutting tool with respect to the chuck as a result of said engagement. The tool holder (A) splits between the two projections (21, 22) and the divided parts (1, 2) are joined by electron beam welding.
