Abstract:
The deployment time of a side airbag is reduced and the safety of passengers in the vehicle is improved.
The side airbag device (200) is equipped with an inflator (160) for supplying a side airbag (140) with a gas to inflate and deploy the airbag, the side airbag (140) that is inflated and deployed toward the front of the vehicle when the gas is supplied, and a side airbag cover (170) for housing the inflator and the side airbag before inflation and deployment. Prior to being housed in the side airbag cover, the side airbag is in a state comprising a rolled part (220) that is rolled up from the front to the rear of the vehicle and a non-rolled part (230) that is between the rolled part and the inflator. The non-rolled part is shaped such that it gradually becomes wider as it extends downward.
