Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a side airbag device which is capable of efficiently improving occupant protection performance and occupant restraining ability. [Solution] This side airbag device 100 is provided with: a cushion 108 which has a bag shape and is stored in a wound or folded state; a holding plate 118 to which the cushion 108 is mounted; and an inflator 110 which is embedded in the cushion 108, and which, together with the cushion 108 and the holding plate 118, is mounted to a side frame 112 along a side surface of a seat back 104 of a seat 102. The holding plate 118 is characterized by having: a base portion 120 formed between the cushion 108 and the side frame 112; and a side wall part 122 which extends in the vehicle front-back direction from a position forward of the side frame 112 in the vehicle front-back direction, and supports the inflated and deployed cushion 108 from the side.
