Abstract:
The present invention provides a side airbag device capable of suppressing movement of an occupant inward in a vehicle width direction while restraining the head area of the occupant. The side airbag device according to the present invention is a side airbag device which expands and deploys on a side of an occupant seated in a vehicle seat, and comprises: an inflator that generates a gas; and a bag-shaped airbag that protects a side area of the occupant by expanding and deploying from the gas generated when the inflator operates. The airbag includes: a trunk protecting part that expands and deploys on a side of the trunk of the occupant; and a head area protecting part that is provided above the trunk protecting part and that expands and deploys between a shoulder area of the occupant and a side of the head area of the occupant. During the expansion and deployment, the head area protecting part curves at an acute angle relative to the trunk protecting part.
